Key Account Manager – Northern California

Position Summary:

The Key Account Manager – Craft Spirits & Wine Sales will deliver sales results thru distribution, menus, and building advocacy with on & off premise trade influencers and is a role for an entry to mid-level spirits sales person who is looking to make a difference in a medium size entrepreneurial wine and spirits company.  Purple Wine + Spirits has embarked on a new growth agenda and Spirits are a big part of the strategy.  This person will support and grow our brands in the assigned market.   The ideal candidate has 2+ years of experience in the spirits and/or wine industry. An entrepreneurial spirit is a must. Some bartending/mixology or distributor sales experience is preferred.

This position is based in Northern California and will call on accounts in San Francisco, the North Bay including Napa and Sonoma and the East Bay.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Achieve Volume, Distribution, Menu, Shelf Standard and Activation goals within assigned account universe
  • Execute brand activation at key events such as consumer tastings, staff seminars, charity events, and distributor functions such as General Sales Meetings (GSMs) and team meetings.
  • Delivers insightful and successful customer sales & marketing presentations
  • Develops impactful cocktail programs with on premise buyers that are both creative and profitable
  • Builds relationships with on & off premise, buyers/owners, waitstaff, bartenders, and distributor sales personnel
  • Social & Digital influencing and amplification of brand message
  • Identify target accounts – Craft/Gin/Whiskey/Wine
  • In tune with on premise trends consumer and trade trends
  • Manage and stay within investment budgets for trade activation and sampling
  • Organize and distribute product samples to identified accounts

Qualifications:

  • 2+ experience in spirits and/or wine industry
  • Sales driven with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline or commensurate experience
  • Must be at a minimum of 21 years old
  • Must be responsible, outgoing and reliable
  • Must have valid States driver’s license for mobility within the territory
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
  • Aligns with brand value with a positive attitude while being a team player
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products

 

KPI’s:

  • Achieve annual depletion and distribution plan by brand
  • Calls on 30-40 on premise customers per week
  • 30+ Consumer/trade activations per month
  • 4 Off Premise Demos conducted per month
  • 1-4 Distributor sales work-withs per month
  • Secures 10+ new menus per month
  • Delivers weekly KPI updates and communicates success stories
  • Time Allocation: 100% Selling & Activation in field, 80% Spirits & 20% Wine Focus
