WATER EFFICIENCY UPDGRADES

  • Rainwater diversion – built 24,000 square foot canopy over part of the winery to divert up to one million gallons of rain water annually into the Atascadero Creek watershed, a federally protected salmon spawning habitat
  • Added steam sterilization of bottling lines – daily average water savings of 1,700 gallons
  • Employed PIG (pipe inspection gauge) system to move wine more efficiently and cleanly through transfer lines saving approximately 1,000 gallons per week
  • OVERALL we’ve cut back our water use from 4+ gallons per case of wine in 2003 to 1.75 gallons in 2015 – a 60% reduction.
